Typically we have the chance to test our lighting equipment, allow new riders to get a sense of what to expect in the middle of the night, and also test out cold weather gear. Unfortunately, we got only slightly cold weather and clear skies. Darn....can't believe I'm complaining about good weather for cycling!
Oh well, still good training for the new team members and they will just have to ensure they have the gear necessary for the inevitable cold that we will experience.
Thanks for Gail and our friend Wanda for preparing a fantastic post night ride breakfast - we all certainly needed it after the 65kms in the dark of night!
Also taking place a few weeks ago was our final rider/volunteer pre-ride meeting. This was also where we had the opportunity to meet our 5 Wellspring Cancer Warriors - all are amazing...and I look forward to introducing them on my blog as part of this journey.
One last event for me this weekend was at the Stouffville Pharmasave Customer Appreciation BBQ - we I had the opportunity to promote the ride. Helping me do some of the spinning is Mya on her road bike!
SAVE THE DATE!
Supporters, friends, and family are all invited to join us at our launch event Friday, October 11 at 8am. Come and cheer on the riders and volunteers as we set off on this year's 3,300km adventure:
